Welcome to the Working Your Way Up podcast series on ProSoundWeb, hosted by PSW/LSI senior editor Erik Matlock. For episode one of series one, we’re joined by veteran touring monitor engineer Mark Frink, the author of many articles here on PSW.

Mark has mixed monitors for numerous top artists including kd lang, Dr John, Tony Bennett and many more. Mark has a personal preference for the monitor position and quite a bit of advice for the aspiring audio engineer considering a career on monitor beach.

Erik worked in a wide range of roles in pro audio for more than 20 years in a dynamic career that encompasses system design and engineering in the live, install and recording markets. He also spent a number of years as a church production staff member and Media Director, and as an author for several leading industry publications before joining the PSW team.
