Blue Headphones Win 2018 Emmy Award

Mix-Fi claims first ever award for headphones in the Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development category for television production innovation.

Blue announces that Mix-Fi (formerly Mo-Fi) studio headphones received the 2018 Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development. The award honors engineering developments that considerably improve existing methods, or innovations that affect the production of television.

“We’re honored to have created the first headphones to ever win an Emmy Award,” says John Maier, CEO of Blue Microphones. “It’s always been our goal at Blue to create products that push the boundaries of technology and design. Winning an Emmy Award highlights the innovation we strive for, and it’s a landmark win for the company.”

Featuring an innovative, built-in audiophile amplifier matched to precision drivers, Mix-Fi has been used on some of the biggest shows on television, including HBO’s Westworld, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, CBS’s NCIS and more.

“Blue are my go-to headphones for recording music,” says J.J. Abrams, Emmy Award-winning writer, director and producer. “Their clarity, balance, presence and accuracy make them the perfect fit — which, by the way, they also are; they’re comfortable even after endless hours of use. I love ‘em.”

Mix-Fi’s listening experience, made possible by its powered design, makes it ideal for critical listening and independent pre-mixing on loud mix stages. All-analog signal processing delivers detailed sound, and enables users to create mixes that translate accurately from headphones to near field monitors, mains and beyond.

“The sound quality is so clean, it’s pristine, and the balance always seems to be right,” says Ross Davis, re-recording mixer, Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, New Girl, CSI, Station 19. “I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t go to them when I need to.”

Mix-Fi’s fidelity and detailed imaging exposes issues in the mix without the need to boost volume levels, preventing ear fatigue during long mixing sessions. Multi-jointed headband and earcups provide total comfort and adjustability for a variety of head shapes and sizes. The earcups stay parallel at all times, creating the best seal for solid bass response, improved isolation, and reduction in sound bleed.

“I like how they sound, and that’s great—but I trust how they sound,” says Nathan Robitaille, Oscar-Nominated supervising sound editor and sound designer, The Shape of Water, Siberia, X-Company, Hip-Hop Evolution.

David Beadle, supervising sound editor, Strange Angel, Criminal Minds, The Story of Us concluded, “I’ve got to say, the Blue Mix-Fi’s are the best headphones I’ve ever used.”

Mix-Fi studio headphones are available for a suggested retail price of $299.99 at authorized Blue Microphones dealers.
