NEXT-proaudio Launches New LAs418A Active Subwoofer At Prolight + Sound

Incorporates dual long-excursion woofers in a bass reflex enclosure with optimized port tuning, driven by newly developed DPA4000 power module.

At Prolight + Sound 2018, NEXT-proaudio has introduced the LAs418A, a new dual 18-inch active subwoofer. The two B&C 18-inch woofers offer long excursion, and they’re front-loaded in a bass reflex enclosure with optimized port tuning.

Also onboard is the newly developed DPA4000 (power module with DSP) specified as capable of delivering up to 4, 000 watts rms. The class D power amplifier module has a PFC switch mode power supply, and an intelligent automatic standby mode is activated when the amplifier detects no input signal, saving energy and extending expected work life.

Meanwhile, the PC-controlled, networkable DSP (24-bit/96 kHz), equipped with low-noise A/D-D/A converters, provides eight selectable presets (six factory defined and two user defined) that can be accessed by a selector located on the front module panel or real time edited from a PC using the supplied Soundware II software (via RS485 or USB remote control).

Editable parameters include input equalization, input delay, input high-pass/low-pass filters and a “Bass Enhancer” function. A total of 255 units can be controlled simultaneously by the software.

Users can choose between standard and cardioid configurations to attain a variety of symmetric and asymmetric directivity patterns.

The LAs418A is specified as being capable of performance down to 24 Hz (at -10 dB), with stated maximum peak SPL of 143 dB. It measures 20.3 x 40.5 x 36.2 inches (H x W x D) and weighs 196 pounds. The multi-laminate birch plywood enclosure, finished in textured black semi-matte coating, includes eight handles.
